Salicornia (Salicornia bigelovii ) Germplasm Enhancement Through Homozygous Genotype Development

Objectives

• To develop Salicornia bigelovii inbred lines with enhanced homozygosity through “plant to row planting method” for genome sequencing and genetic improvement (development of new varieties). 
• To breed compact and phenotypically superior plants for high biomass (fresh tip yield particularly).

Date of Sowing: 21 November 2021

Experimental Detail: Parents ICBA 4, 5, 6 & 10  (S3 stage seeds) and Progenies (F2 seeds) are sown in different plots for selection. Plot size for parents and progenies was 1x1 meter each (4 parents and 6 cross combinations were involved).
