Dr. Anestis Gkanogiannis joined ICBA in December 2022 as Bioinformatics Scientist.
He has over 10 years of experience as a bioinformatics and dry-lab scientist, specializing in agronomic, plant and biomedical analyses. He also has more than 20 years of experience in informatics, artificial intelligence, electronics, software engineering and development. He is particularly interested in in-silico methods, software and pipelines for the handling, analysis, interpretation, presentation and visualization of various types of multi-omic and phenotypic data, climate change, automation and smart agriculture, among others.
Before joining ICBA, he had held various informatics- and bioinformatics-related positions at public research centers in Europe (CRG, Spain; CIRAD, France; CEA, France), Latin America (CIAT, Colombia) and North America (UNB, Canada).
He holds a PhD and a MSc in Computer Science (Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning) from the Athens University of Economics and Business, Greece, and a BSc in Physics from the University of Crete, Greece.
