More efforts should focus on marginal environments as the world faces food and water insecurities, worsened by climate change, Dr. Ismahane Elouafi, Director General of the International Center for Biosaline Agriculture, has said during the 39th session of the Governing Council of the International Fund for Agricultural Development.
“The agriculture of tomorrow will not be on arable land alone. We have big issues. To face those big issues, we should gain and retain what we have got from the Green Revolution. But also start a new revolution in marginal environments,” Dr. Elouafi told an audience of development leaders, heads of state, government representatives and leading scientists in Rome, Italy, on February 18, 2016.
