HH Sharifa Zein Alsharaf Bint Nasser, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the Hashemite Fund for Development of Jordan Badia, joined Dr. Ismahane Elouafi, Director General of the International Center for Biosaline Agriculture (ICBA), in the signing of memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the two organizations.
This MoU constitutes a cooperation framework between ICBA and the Hashemite Fund for Development of Jordan Badia. The MoU states that the aim of both parties is to develop applied agricultural research and technologies that contribute to increasing agricultural production and the use of unconventional water resources in marginal environments (such as the Badia). ICBA and Badia look to support initiatives in water and food security, and the transfer of knowledge and the dissemination of research results for local, regional and global benefit. As well as, they seek to develop the national human capacities, and to increase cooperation with national, regional, and international organizations.
Dr. Elouafi stressed the importance of this agreement; noting that ICBA has an established relationship with the Badia Fund for many years and is looking forward to a stronger partnership through this agreement. Partnership is in the core of ICBA’s strategy 2013-2023 where ICBA seeks, through partnerships, to find solutions for agriculture in marginal environments using marginal water resources.
