Compost and Biochar Production Unit

Objectives

1. Study the bio physiochemical changes that happen during the decomposition of wastes from different origins
2. Produce compost for different field experiments, to increase sustainability and decrease external inputs.
3. Determine the quality of produced biochar under different thermal pyrolysis conditions and from different feedstocks.

About the Unit

The unit was established in 2017.

Composting facility is equipped with a waste shredder, automatic sprinklers to moisturize compost, and leachate collection.

Biochar production consists of two fixed pyrolysis facilities and one mobile unit.
